Mondays and Thursday: Yarn Manglers. Mondays 6-7:30 p.m., Thursdays 2-4 p.m. Knitters and crocheters, join for fellowship and creativity. Ages 18 and older.
Thursdays: Children’s Storytime. 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. Join Ms. Alicia for stories, songs, bubble time and lots of fun. Birth through pre-K.
Dec. 2: Adult Book Club. 2-3 p.m. An adult book club focusing on books from a variety of genres. From fantasy to contemporary fiction and everything in between, come join us at the library on the first Saturday of every month! December’s title is “A River Enchanted” by Rebecca Ross. Ages 18 and older.
Dec. 4, 11 and 18: Easterseals VR Jobs. 4-5 p.m. Easterseals will be presenting a virtual reality job program. The program is cumulative; by signing up for one, you sign up for all three events. Half of the program is a classroom setting where students will learn about a variety of jobs, while the other half is using the VR headsets and getting to experience some of the jobs. Grades 6-12.
Dec. 4: Santa’s Workshop. 5-7 p.m. Stop by Santa's workshop at the library. Craft stations and hot cocoa will be provided (while supplies last). Santa will stop by for photos.
Dec. 5: Friends of the Trussville Library Meeting. 11 a.m. to noon. Join us for the monthly meeting. This group’s members support library staff by providing extra hands for special events and money for programs and prizes.
Dec. 5: Crafty Collective: Mason Jar Luminaries. 5:30-7:30 p.m. Come and make a festive mason jar luminary. Supplies will be provided by the library.
Dec. 5: Ukulele Club. 6:30-7:30 p.m. Interested in learning the ukulele or looking for somewhere to play? We have a professional ukulele player here to help you learn and perfect your skills. All ages.
Dec. 6: Video Game Tournament — Teens. 4-5:30 p.m. We will play a different competitive game each month, with our champion winning a prize. Grades 6-12.
Dec. 7: Pokémon Club. 4-5 p.m. Bring your friends for an hour of playing the Pokémon card game, making a craft and watching the show in the library auditorium. Grades 1-5.
Dec. 11: STEAM for Kids. 4-4:45 p.m. Join Ms. Jan, the science lady, of Dynamic Education Adventures in the library auditorium for some snowy science. Open to elementary ages.
Dec. 11: Books & Brews. 7:15-8:15 p.m. An evening adult book club meeting in the event room at Ferus Artisan Ales. Connect with your community and share your thoughts about this month's book while enjoying delicious food and drinks. December’s title is “Trees of the Emerald Sea” by Brandon Sanderson. Ages 18 and older.
Dec. 13 and 27: Preschoolers at Play. 10-11 a.m. Join us for a guided sensory time followed by free play at several stations set up around the large auditorium with various toys. Birth through pre-K.
Dec. 14 and 28: Sewing for Charity. 6-8 p.m. Join us to sew items that are donated to various charities. Ages 18 and older.
Dec. 15: Wonka Party. 4-5:30 p.m. Drop by the library to enjoy some fun activities and games based on the book “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” by Roald Dahl. Grades K-6.
Dec. 18: Chess Club. 5-6 p.m. Learn the basics, cool tricks, strategies, openings and tactics in chess from a professional chess teacher. Registration encouraged. Parents are welcome to participate with their children. Grades K-6.
Dec. 19: T.A.B. 4-5 p.m. Teen Advisory Board is a place for local teens to get involved with their library. Grades 8-12.
Dec. 19: Kitchen Labs for Kids. 4-5 p.m. and 5-6 p.m. Join us as we cook up some chemistry. Observe the changes that take place when substances are combined as we make Chia Seed Pudding and Juice Noodles. Grades K-6.
Dec. 19: Ugly Christmas Sweater Decoration Contest. 6-8 p.m. Decorate an ugly Christmas sweater in a competition to determine who has made the ugliest sweater. Ages 18 and older.
Dec. 21: Pages & Panels. 4-5 p.m. Read the book, graphic novel or listen to “Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library” by Chris Grabenstein. Then join us as we go on a scavenger hunt and make a craft. Grades 3-6.
