The Taste of Trussville event in May 2023.
Taste of Trussville is back for its 2024 iteration.
On Thursday, May 9, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., locals can come to the Trussville Civic Center to taste dishes from some of the town’s restaurants and bakeries.
Presented by The Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce, this ticketed, family-friendly event has become a community favorite, selling out every year since 2017. Attendees will have the chance to sample from a variety of vendors, then vote for their favorites.
Some of this year’s participants include Umami, Meals by Misty, Pastry Art Bake Shoppe, Jim ‘N Nicks, Tamburro's Italian Home, Fox's Pizza Den, Trussville Social, Full Moon BBQ, Milo's Hamburgers, and Val's Incredible Edibles.
Valerie Williams, owner of Val’s Incredible Edibles, said she can’t wait to meet community members and see them try her homemade sweets. “Some people come through and taste things right at the table, then tell us how much they enjoy them,” she said. “I’m looking forward to seeing the reaction from customers once they taste a treat.”
Over 20 restaurants and bakeries are expected to participate in Restaurant Week, and ticket holders can try as many as they like. Taste of Trussville is sponsored by Birmingham architectural and interior design firm
TurnerBatson. Live musical entertainment will be provided by Tuscaloosa guitarist Cashmere Williams.
Tickets went on sale in March at the chamber office and online. Following the event, Trussville Restaurant Week will run from May 10 to 16, giving area restaurants another opportunity to show off what they have to offer with special promotions. This event is also hosted by the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce, with presenting sponsor Trussville To Go.
Trussville To Go owners Ben and Amanda Short began this partnership five years ago and look forward to Restaurant Week every year.
“Restaurant Week is an exciting opportunity for our city to showcase the diverse culinary talents we have right here in Trussville,” Ben Short said. “Amanda and I are always excited to show support to and for our local businesses, and hope the community joins us in supporting our local restaurants.”
“What makes Trussville Restaurant Week so special is the chance for the community to come together to support local businesses and create lasting memories over delicious food,” Amanda Short said. “During Restaurant Week, you get to eat great food, play bingo, take advantage of restaurant specials and even enter to win prizes — all while supporting local.”
Bingo cards will be available at participating restaurants as well as the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce office. It’s free to play. Simply make a purchase from a restaurant on the card to receive a stamp, and return cards to the chamber office to enter the prize drawings.
All event proceeds will benefit the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund.
