Velma’s has made its return to Trussville, reopening at 1911 Gadsden Highway in November. The karaoke bar previously operated from 1938 to 2012 and has reopened under the ownership of Royce Butler. 205-508-3063
Maple Avenue Coffee House is now open at 110 Maple Ave. in Trussville. Owner Tracy Delaney opened the business with the idea of giving people a place to slow down and enjoy an array of coffee and other drinks. It is currently open Tuesday-Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Bruster’s Ice Cream is now open at 445 Main St. #101 in Trussville. The company makes ice cream “the old-fashioned way,” with slow kettle processing designed to create the Bruster’s flavor. Bruster’s is open seven days a week from noon until 9 p.m. 205-508-3264
Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux
Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux opened on Dec. 11 at 464 Main St. in Trussville. The New Orleans-style franchise restaurant is co-owned by former NFL quarterback Drew Brees. The Trussville location is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to midnight. 205-289-8333
