Q: Introduce yourself.
A: My name is Lauryn Holley. I play for the Hewitt-Trussville girls varsity basketball team. I'm in 10th grade, and I'm a combo guard.
Q: What is your favorite thing about basketball?
A: My favorite thing about basketball is definitely how it makes me feel. It makes me feel calm and in my element. Like, if I go have a long day, and I can just go shoot to release all my energy; I feel better. I feel calm.
I also really like the discipline of, like, you have to be at practice at a certain time. You have to train for a certain amount of time to get better each and every day, and that instills discipline in you.
Q: What are your goals for this season?
A: My goals for the year are to improve every single game on the little details to help my team out in the long run. I want to improve on the defensive side of the ball, and I want to do all the small things to help my team get to a state championship.
Q: What is your earliest memory of basketball?
A: My earliest memory of basketball: I started when I was six. But, on my eighth or ninth birthday, I went outside and I just played one-on-one with my dad for like hours and it was extremely fun to me and I feel like that's one of those memories that I can look back on and be like, that's one of the points in my life that really made me love the game of basketball.
Q: What’s the most impressive thing you’ve done on a basketball court?
A: My most impressive moment, to me, is my career-high game, when I hit 42 points. That was a great night to me. A great accomplishment.
Q: What is your favorite sports team? Why do you root for them?
A: My favorite sports team is the Las Vegas Aces. I'm a really big A'ja Wisonl fan and I really love Chelsea Gray, the point guard, Kelsey Plum, Jackie Young, all of them.
I love watching them, especially as I've gotten to love basketball more and more. It's just fun to watch them play it so well and do it so well.
Q: Who wins the NBA title this year?
A: The Celtics are going to win the NBA title this year. I mean, you’ve got Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown. I mean, really enough said.
