Olivia Burton is a senior guard on Hewitt-Trussville’s girls basketball team. In this interview, she shares some of her favorite basketball memories and shouts-out a WNBA player she loves to watch.
Q: Introduce yourself.
A: My name is Olivia Burton. I play for Hewitt-Trussville High School. I'm a guard, and I'm a senior.
Q: What is your favorite thing about basketball?
A: My favorite thing about basketball would be the friendships and the bonds that come along with it, and also the competitiveness.
Q: What are your goals for this season?
A: My goals for this season would be to play with more confidence, to make it as far as we did last year and to enjoy my last year to the fullest.
Q: What is your earliest memory of basketball?
A: My earliest memory of basketball would be when I used to play at the civic center, and I loved defense so, every time I stole the ball, everybody would yell "cookies."
Q: What’s the most impressive thing you’ve done on a basketball court?
A: I think the most impressive thing I've done was throwing the ball from out of bounds all the way down the court to my wide open teammate.
Q: What is your favorite sports team? Why do you root for them?
A: I have lots of favorite sports teams, but specifically I like the Sun because I love DiJonai Carrington. I love her intensity on defense, and I love defense too.
Q: Who wins the NBA title this year?
A: I think the Cavaliers are gonna win the NBA title this year.
