Beth Seeley owns Bookmarked Paperie, a bookstore and paper goods store located in downtown Trussville.
Q: Tell us about your business.
A: Hi, I'm Beth Seeley. I'm a co-owner of Bookmarked Paperie and Accessories. We are an indie bookstore, also specializing in paper goods, notebooks, journals, notepads, everything for your home office, in addition to some unique gifts and puzzles. And, these items we carry for all ages.
Q: How did you get involved with the business?
A: We got into this business as really finding a need in the market. We were tired of having to travel all the way to, like, Mountain Brook or Homewood to get a new book. And, just coming from a family that also used to own a small business when I was younger, we try not to shop at big box stores unless necessary for our paper goods.
Q: What sets you apart from your competitors?
A: Something that sets us apart, I believe is our dedication to really curating and sourcing products that come from all over the world; something that's just unique to us and that you're not gonna be able to walk into another shop in the Trussville-area, and maybe not even in Alabama, and find another one like it.

Q: What would your customers say they like about you?
A: Something our customers would say they like about us I believe is that we remember. We remember their names, their children's names, the events that are going on in their lives, something that they're planning for, a vacation they're excited about. And so, when they come back to shop with us, we're not just excited that they're there to shop, but because we get to find out how everything went and if they like the gift or the book, so it's fun.
Q: Give us your elevator pitch.
A: We are a mother-daughter team who believe in books are a foundation of a better life and that your everyday paper goods should be just as unique as you are, and gifting should be special and tell a story.
Q: Anything else you’d like to add?
A: And, while we are a brick-and-mortar retail store, we also host many events. So, we have book clubs and storytimes for kids, you know. We did watercolor classes. So, really just trying to spark all avenues of creativity within our community, and offering a space for you to come and to maybe meet other like-minded individuals or just to have a fun night out with friends or even a date night.
