FLAG FOOTBALL

The Huskies scored a couple more times in the fourth quarter to put the game away. Gracie Reeves came up with a key stop on fourth down, which led to Rubie Simon’s long catch down the sideline and Hannah Dorsett’s touchdown reception. Audre Benson scored on a 5-yard run with 1:30 to play to make it 25-0, and Taylor Davis came up with an interception at the end to keep the Yellow Jackets off the scoreboard.

Hewitt-Trussville will face Smiths Station, which beat John Carroll in the semifinals, in the state championship game. The game will be held at Birmingham’s Protective Stadium, home of this year’s Super 7, on Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 3 p.m.
