Junior golfers win local honors

Members of the PGA Junior League golf team, which is based at Trussville Country Club, recently notched several wins.

The annual two-day junior golf tournament, the Rigdon Cup, was held Aug. 2-3. Cup winner Dawson Atkinson fired 62-67 to edge out Logan McCracken (63-68).

Noah Dennis won the college division 72-66 and Caroline Hayes won the girl division 81-91. Stuart Dixon won the 14-15-year-olds division and scored 71-69. For the 11-12-year-olds, Gavin Isbell fired 81, and Braxton Sutton won the 10 and under age group with a score of 91.

Four players from Trussville Country Club’s team were also selected for the All-Star team, including Hewitt-Trussville Middle School students Clayton Healy and Aran Cane. The four players from the Trussville team played as part of the All-Star team in mid-August.
