Hewitt-Trussville honors early signees

Hewitt-Trussville High School honored 10 student-athletes on Nov. 13.

Hewitt-Trussville baseball had four students recognized. The Huskies advanced to the Class 7A semifinals in 2019 and played for a state championship in 2018. Kerrigan Edmonson signed with Alabama State University, Michael Fowler signed with LSU, Keith Lanum signed with Bishop State Community College and Tyler Mauldin signed with Northwest Florida State College.

The Huskies softball team had two players sign. The Huskies won the school’s first softball state title in 2019. Abigail Dorsett signed with Samford University and KK Hughes signed with the University of South Alabama.

Leah Harrison signed to play basketball at the University of West Alabama. Harrison and her teammates advanced to the final four for the first time in school history in 2019. Jordan Lynn signed with Mercer University to play soccer. Lynn also excelled for the football team during the 2019 season and made an appearance on ESPN’s SportsCenter program.

Volleyball’s Trenady Lockett will attend Coastal Alabama Community College next year. Nathan Pitts will run cross-country at Jefferson State Community College next year as well. He helped the Hewitt cross-country team to a fifth-place finish at state in November.
