Successful seasons for the Pinson Valley, Hewitt-Trussville and Clay-Chalkville high school football teams resulted in several players from each school making the Alabama Sports Writers Association All-State teams.

Following a second consecutive undefeated regular season, total of six Huskies made the Class 7A list.

Named to the first team were junior offensive lineman Pierce Quick, junior kicker Parker Colburn, senior linebacker Simon Miskelley and senior athlete Elliott McElwain.

Quick is an Alabama commit and opened many holes for McElwain, who primarily plays running back. McElwain, who flipped his commitment from Army to Yale, racked up nearly 2,000 total yards on the year.

Colburn had an outstanding season, making 10-of-11 field goal attempts and converting 68-of-69 extra point tries. Miskelley racked up 134 tackles, including 17 for loss.

Junior quarterback Paul Tyson was named to the second team, and senior wide receiver Logan Pitts received honorable mention. Tyson threw for 3,392 yards and 36 touchdowns while throwing just four interceptions. Pitts, a Chattanooga commit, had 978 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns.

“All of these guys are very deserving,” Hewitt-Trussville head coach Josh Floyd said. “They’ve worked hard. We’re proud of them, and it’s a great accomplishment for our team.”

Pinson Valley and Clay-Chalkville met in the 6A quarterfinals before the Indians moved on to Tuscaloosa and claimed the 6A crown and completed a perfect season. Both teams were rewarded with multiple players named to the 6A list, including six for Pinson Valley and four for Clay-Chalkville.

For Pinson Valley, junior quarterback Bo Nix, senior receiver LiAllen Dailey, sophomore defensive back Deshazio Williams, senior defensive tackle Desmond Scott and senior athlete Dilan Henderson were all named to the first team. Senior offensive lineman Lonnie Hollman represented the Indians on the second team.

Nix missed five games due to an ankle injury, but his numbers still rivaled those of the top quarterbacks who played every game. He hurled more than 30 touchdown passes in an outstanding junior campaign. Dailey was his top target and received more than 20 of those scores. Henderson was also a weapon, as he totaled more than 1,000 total yards on the year.

The Cougars’ junior defensive lineman D.J. Dale was named to the first team. Senior receiver Roderick McCloud was named to the second team with junior defensive back Jaylin Mack and senior linebacker D’Markus Davis receiving honorable mention.
