On April 15, the Hewitt-Trussville High Engineering Academy competed in the Electrathon race at Barber’s Motorsports Park.

Teams must build, modify and test their cars. The race includes one hour in the morning and another hour in the afternoon. The teams are ranked by the total number of laps they complete in both races.

The Hewitt-Trussville Engineering Academy girls’ team placed fifth overall, completing 20 laps for a distance of 47.6 miles.

The boys’ car experienced a flat tire in the first race and the speed controller failed in the second, so they were not able to finish.
