Magnolia Elementary participates in service learning

by

Magnolia Elementary students showed their generosity this past December with service learning projects.

The entire student body donated money in their “Attitude for Gratitude” campaign. This money was presented to the school’s three custodians to show gratitude for their hard work and dedication to the school. Each custodian received $100.

Fifth grade students visited residents at Trussville Health and Rehabilitation Center. They brought gifts for the residents and the choir sang Christmas carols. Additionally, they celebrated one of the residents’ birthdays. The students visited and talked with the residents for a few minutes, telling them Merry Christmas and giving them hugs.

Second grade students showed generosity when Mrs. Gamble’s class held a class yard sale and students donated items for the sale. Many children in Mrs. Durham’s and Ms. Wolfe’s class chose to donate the money they had left over after making their purchases in the yard sale. All the proceeds went toward helping a less fortunate family at Christmas. The sale generated over $115.
