HTHS students compete in Electrathon

On April 30, the Hewitt-Trussville Engineering Academy competed in the Electrathon race at the Barber Motorsports speedway.

The competition is a one-hour race in the morning and another one-hour race in the afternoon. The teams are ranked by the total number of laps that they complete in both races.

The Hewitt-Trussville Engineering Academy’s teams placed 5th and 6th overall. Leading up to the Electrathon, the students put in effort modifying, testing and racing the Electrathon cars.

The boys’ car completed a total of 20 laps for a distance of 47.6 miles, and the girls’ car completed a total of 18 laps for a total of 42.9 miles.
