Engineering students take invention to world stage

For the third time in as many years, a team from the Hewitt-Trussville Engineering Academy has placed on the world stage of the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix, Arizona, in May.

Travis Gunn and Eli Greene’s project, Renewable Power Trekking Pole for Green Electric Generation in Extreme Outdoor Locations, won third place in the Physical Energy Category of the world’s biggest science and engineering fair. Their project was judged by international experts in their field.

To put this into perspective, there were approximately 1,800 projects with participants from 70 countries, including over 350 projects in their division.
