Three Hewitt-Trussville High School students — John Patrick Campbell, Jacob Copham and Abby Weems — were selected for Alabama Governor’s School.

The Alabama Governor’s School is a summer residential honors program funded by Samford University, the state of Alabama and private sources. Annually, the Alabama Governor’s School provides academic, creative and leadership experiences for a limited number of rising high school seniors who have demonstrated exceptional ability and achievement in their studies. Eighty to 90 students are selected from across the state of Alabama and share a common desire to explore academic and intellectual topics.

In accordance with the directive from health officials, mayors, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey and President Donald Trump, students were unable to attend sessions in June as previously scheduled.
