POP student wins county spelling bee

Prince of Peace Catholic School seventh grade student Kirstan Davie won the 2018 Jefferson County Spelling Bee on Feb. 8. She won by correctly spelling the word “depreciate.”

Kirstan then advanced to the Alabama State Spelling Bee on March 9 at Westwood Baptist Church in Alabaster. She qualified for the Jefferson County Bee by winning the POP School school-wide bee on Jan. 8.

Kirstan is the daughter of Ashley and Michelle Davie of Birmingham.
