The Trussville YMCA hosted its third annual Ladies Tennis Tournament fund-raiser on April 14.

Three USTA levels were utilized in pairing the teams. Forty-eight area ladies participated in the event, which raised over $5,000. A silent auction was held in conjunction with the tennis event, as well as a raffle on a large cooler of meat donated by Mariah Meats. There were 38 items available for bidding from local business. Lunch was provided for players by Panera Bread Company.

The funds raised from the tournament will benefit scholarships for local youth who require financial support in order to utilize Y programs which enrich their lives. These programs include the After-School Academy, youth summer camps, youth sports, swim lessons and more. The YMCA also offers programs that focus on healthy living for families such as cancer support groups and diabetes prevention.

Winners in the 4.0 division were Victoria Perry and Juanita Taylor. Winners for the 3.5 bracket were Laurie Pitts and Barbara Snider. The 3.0 brackets winners were Toni Harris and Susan Brandt.
