The 38th annual Trussville City Fest will take place on May 5 at The Mall in historic downtown Trussville (225 Parkway Drive) from 1-9 p.m.

The one-day festival is produced by the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Trinity Contractors. Gates will open at 1 p.m. and the event will kick off at 1:30 p.m.

There will be activities for kids and adults throughout the day.

Diane Pool, Executive Director of the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce, said City Fest is the city’s largest event each year.

“Our average attendance is between 4,500 and 5,000 people, probably primarily Trussville residents,” she said.

Vendors were still being finalized at press time, but Poole said there are usually 90-100 vendor booths on site, which include many local businesses, as well as arts and crafts booths.

Boy Scout Troop 216 will present the colors. Kids’ activities will include a balloon artist, magician, face painting and more. There will be demonstrations from ACE of Trussville’s gymnastics program and Birmingham Academy of Martial Arts’ youth demonstration team, adult street self-defense and women’s self-defense.

The Coca-Cola Food Court will be located in the concrete area just a short walk from the food vendors.

For musical entertainment, local performers will take the stage throughout the day. Jackson Capps will perform at 6:45 p.m. in preparation for the musical headliner, Sweet Tea Trio, performing on the CenturyLink Stage at 8 p.m. The Alabama natives turned Nashville-residents have performed with Kid Rock, Bon Jovi and at the CMA Music Fest in Nashville.

The event will end with a fireworks show at 9 p.m.

Admission to the festival is $5 per person, and children 2 and under are free. Once inside the gate, all activities are free. Admission also includes a coupon for a free soft drink. Official City Fest shirts will be available for purchase for $10.
