The Trussville City Schools Foundation, in conjunction with the Trussville City Schools Athletic Foundation, will host their 9th Annual Paws for a Cause Gala on Saturday, Aug. 18.

Proceeds from the event, which will be held at the Trussville Civic Center, will be equally divided between the two foundations.

Patrick Campbell, president of the Trussville City Schools Foundation, said the timing of this event is essential.

“Most people’s summer activities have ended, and they are back in school mode, but the first football game hasn't happened yet,” he said.

The event will feature a tailgate theme and guests are encouraged to wear their favorite team’s attire, whether it be in high school, college or NFL. A new element this year is that students from Hewitt-Trussville High School’s award-winning Hospitality and Culinary Arts Academy will provide the catering.

“They will handle the preparation and serving of the meal,” Campbell said. “It’s an opportunity to showcase their talents and for our patrons to see first-hand the activities these students are involved in.”

With the proceeds from years past, the TCSF has made financial contributions to the schools that they can use for their specific needs. For the last two years, they have implemented a grant program for teachers, up to $1,000 each semester, for innovative ideas they’d like to implement in their classrooms.

Tickets are $150 each and tables for eight are $600. Included in the ticket price is dinner for two, silent auction, door prizes, bingo and a chance at the $10,000 cash giveaway at the end of the night.

Only 360 tickets are available, and Campbell said the event has sold out for the past three years. Tickets may be ordered online at tcsf.org.
