Second Saturdays bring summer fun

Summer in Trussville means that Second Saturdays from the Trussville Downtown Merchants Association are back. Originally offered as one event in 2016, attendance has allowed the TDMA to expand to every second Saturday through Sept. 14. 

Each event includes food trucks, a food court area, kids area and vendors. The farmers market and a car cruise in will be participating on every Second Saturday, as well as other merchant members that will have activities, sales or specials at their business locations. Entertainment varies to accompany the theme of each event. 

Activities for children will also vary. Examples from last year include face painting, balloon twisting, bounce houses and smaller carnival rides.

June 8: Street Fair 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. This carnival themed event will be spread throughout thedowntown district. 

July 13: Trussville Gives Back  8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Spread throughout the downtown district, funds raised during this event will go toward supporting local charities such as Independence Place. 

Aug. 10: Dancing in the Streets 4 to 9 p.m. Local singers and dancers will perform throughout the day, closing with a cover band to end the night. This event will be at the grassy area across from City Hall.

Sept. 14: Art Festival 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. TrussVegas and 4-9 p.m. Early in the day, various local artists will display and sell their work in the grassy area across from City Hall. The evening portion will be built around Vegas impersonators rescheduled from May 11 due to inclement weather.
