Folks can get ready to Get Down in Downtown Trussville on Saturday, Aug. 11.

Reminiscent of a downtown block party, the Get Down in Downtown event will feature live music, food trucks, a classic car show and more from 4-8 p.m. The main stage will be located behind Synovus Bank.

The Second Saturday series is in its third year and was formed from a collaboration of stakeholders and volunteers interested in downtown Trussville. The planning meetings are led by the Trussville Downtown Merchants Association’s board of directors.

Greg Carroll, DMA president and owner of Carroll Pharmacy, said this summer’s previous events have been a tremendous success. “Most retail businesses downtown have indicated an increase in business during the events,” Carroll said. “Also, the food trucks are all eager to return each month, so much so we have had to begin a rotation schedule.”

The association organizes each event, and sponsors help make it possible. This month’s entertainment is sponsored by the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce.

Local merchants and members of the association are encouraged to participate, either at their location or at the event location.

Entertainment and food truck lineups were not available at press time, but updated information will be posted on facebook.com/trussvilledowntown.
