Central Baptist Church reenacts Iwo Jima photo

Central Baptist Church, located on Gadsden Highway, held its Freedom Celebration right before the July 4 holiday.

The event included patriotic songs and prose from the church’s ensemble, as well as a fireworks display. However, the highlight was the reenactment of the raising of the U.S. flag at Iwo Jima, performed by the Marine Auxiliary League.

The church plans to make this community-wide cookout and Freedom Celebration an annual event.
