TRUSSVILLE – Trussville’s second annual Heritage Days event will take place April 15-21 to celebrate and showcase Trussville’s historic district.

The weeklong Heritage Days, organized by the Cahaba Homestead Heritage Foundation, will feature Alabama artists painting the historic area, the Gee’s Bend Quilters, music at the Trussville Entertainment District, history, culture, a Trussville-themed Jeopardy event, and tour of historic homes.

Most events are free to the public, including a Saturday concert at the Trussville Entertainment District. Heritage Days will kick off April 15 with the Alabama Plein Air Artists painting scenes across the Cahaba Project neighborhood. The artists will continue this throughout the week.

A Trussville-themed Jeopardy event will kick off the planned events on April 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the Trussville Public Library. Four contests are planned.

The Gee’s Bend Quilters of Alabama, who share a unique Great Depression origin with the Cahaba Project, will be welcomed to Trussville on April 19 at 5 p.m. This will be a free meet and greet event with China and Mary Ann Pettway at the Trussville Public Library.

The Pettways will host a two-day quilting workshop April 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and April 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Trussville Public Library. Tickets for this event are $100, and cover the two-day workshop and lunch both days. More information is available here

On April 20 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., the Birmingham Heritage Jazz Band will perform on the Trussville Entertainment District stage. The Alabama Plein Air Artists will host an art show during this time in the entertainment district. This family-friendly event is free to the public.

On April 21 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., there will be a tour of several historic homes. Home Tour parking and check-in booth will be at Cahaba Elementary School. Accent Limo will shuttle guests to the homes and back to parking. Tickets are $20 and are available through the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce’s website here. This event also features raffle prizes, including gift cards from local businesses.
