Women in Business: Donna Robinson - RealtySouth

Donna Robinson loves people, and you can tell from the way she talks about her clients. After watching her sister work in real estate, Robinson retired from O’Neal Steel after 23 years and started selling homes in 2013 through RealtySouth.

One of her favorite parts about what she does is her clients. “I like meeting people for the first time and trying to get to know their needs,” she said. “Every day you’re meeting new people, and you’re making a difference and it’s important because you’re a part of peoples’ lives.”

Working with different personalities and negotiating come easy to Donna: her husband, Lester, is pastor of Christ Chapel in Pinson, and she has a combined family of six children, 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. “Negotiating is certainly used every day when you have such a large family,” she said.

One of her strengths is that she naturally sympathizes with people, which is why she works so hard.

“When things aren’t going well, I feel that hurt,” she said. “I want people, when they talk to me, to trust what I’ve said to them.”

Robinson understands the constant changes in her industry, and because of that, she is determined to become a lifelong learner by frequently attending industry conferences and reading up on the latest trends. “I want my business to grow in knowledge, and I want to stay on top of all the changes in this business,” she said. “It’s been a challenge I’ve enjoyed.”
