Susie Gunter- Women of Trussville

If you ask RealtySouth Realtor Susie Gunter what her passion is, you’ll find out it goes beyond helping people find a safe place to call home.

As Susie explains her philosophy, you can see why her customers think of her as “their friend in the real estate business.”

“I’m there to help them make the largest financial investment possibly in their lifetime. The stakes are high, and trust is critical, I’m honored to have that trust and always have their best interests at heart as I guide them on the journey.”

Her favorite part of her work is meeting new people and firmly establishing those relationships.

“I honestly want to find out what their needs and wants are and work hard toward meeting them. We build a strong bond during the hunt for the perfect home. The journey to finding it can be difficult, especially when they have very particular needs or wants. That just makes it an even bigger celebration once we find it!”

Gunter is always meeting new challenges with an open heart. She recently worked with a single mom who was getting back on her feet after a bankruptcy. “It was a tough challenge, but it was so worth it when I shared the joy of handing her the keys to her first home!”

Ensuring people are safe and have a home carries over into the volunteer work Susie does with The Wellhouse, a rescue and recovery organization for women who are victims of sexual exploitation and trafficking.

Here she can see women regain their freedom and self-worth, making it the most rewarding work she does.

“I first heard of this horrific crime of sex trafficking while at my church. I was immediately drawn and knew I had to be involved,” she said. “Some of them have experienced so much abuse. I love that I can love on them where they are and be an encouragement.”

Gunter volunteers in various ways, including helping to train volunteers and connect them with opportunities where they can affect the most change. She helps these volunteers to get involved either physically or financially and assists with speaking engagements to raise awareness.

Gunter also leads a team each week looking for women on the streets who are being trafficked. She provides them with information on ways to become free or assists with rescue efforts, and she also provides temporary shelter to women that have had setbacks in the program and need to go into rehabilitation.

“One of the biggest challenges is earning the trust of the women. Once it’s established, we’re able to help them transition to a new, safer world. I have had the honor of being a social coach (mentor) to one of the ladies, who is now living a successful life.”

Susie Gunter is committed to making a difference in people’s lives, and the way she conducts her business and life reflects that.
