Slag Heap Brewing holds ribbon cutting

The Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) hosted a ribbon cutting on Aug. 30 to announce the opening of Slag Brewing Company.

Slag Heap Brewing Company (SHB) produces artisanal, handcrafted beers. SHB has placed in over 20 competitions, including winning the 3rd Annual Heart of Dixie Open Home Brew Competition People’s Choice in 2016 and placing 2nd in the IPA category and 3rd in the German Ale category in the Heart of Dixie home brew contest at Good People Brewing.

On-hand for the ribbon cutting were owners Joe and Susan Meadows; Mayor Buddy Choat; Councilmen Perry Cook, Jef Freeman, and Zack Steele; TACC board members Jeremy Tuggle, Johnny Amari, Debra McCarley, Ian Maddox and Vic Modic; Chamber Ambassadors Donna Lowery, Virginia Morris, Natalie Norton, Deanna Schrecongost and Leann Streetman; TACC Executive Director Diane Poole; and several other friends.

The address is 227 Main St. Business hours are tentatively scheduled for 4-10 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 4-11 p.m. on Thursdays, 3 p.m.-midnight on Fridays, noon-midnight on Saturdays and 1-6 p.m. on Sundays.
