Originally starting as a catering company out of her home, Sherry’s Cafe, Floral and Catering has been bringing traditional Southern food to Trussville for five years now.
“Our food is like going to grandma’s house for dinner,” Sherry Merrifield said. “We stay true to the level of service we provide and to the quality of ingredients we use that we first started with.”
Their most popular menu items are macaroni and cheese, which is her grandmother’s recipe, their Asian-inspired slaw — “which put us on the map,” Merrifield said — chicken livers and fried chicken.
With 35 years of experience, Sherry’s also continues to offer complete catering services for special events, including cakes and fresh flowers. They also have an in-house banquet room that accommodates up to 85 people.
“Weddings are our best calling — that’s where we shine the brightest,” Merrifield said. “They are hard work, but my favorite part of running this business is seeing the smiles on happy faces and hearing all the sweet comments people make afterwards.”
What sets her apart from other catering companies is that each event is individualized. “I listen to their ideas and add those little extra touches that make their special day their own,” Merrifield said. “It’s customized to fit each personality.”
Sherry’s serves lunch and dinner Monday through Friday and lunch on Saturday and Sunday, complete with a drive-thru window for pickup.
