Mayor Gene Melton will give his annual “State of the City” update at the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce Luncheon July 21. The luncheon, sponsored by St. Vincent’s East, will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Trussville Civic Center, followed by Melton’s update at noon.

Melton is in his fifth term and 20th year as mayor after being elected in 1996.

He said he plans to discuss projects in Trussville, including the ALDOT Greenways, the ATRIBS project at Trussville-Clay Road and Service Road, the Valley Road extension and structure and road projects in the downtown area.

“It has always been a pleasure to be invited to speak at any chamber function and to annually give a State of the City address while giving everyone an opportunity to ask questions,” Melton said.

The monthly luncheons begin with 30 minutes of network development where the 80 to 100 members and guests can network and exchange business cards. Prior to lunch, the chamber will honor its monthly Custom Service Award winners. Door prizes also will be given away.
