Cahaba Sun brings home APA awards

Cahaba Sun, a Trussville community newspaper, brought home six editorial awards at the 2021 Alabama Press Association Better News Contest.

Cahaba Sun has been delivering community news to Trussville since November 2015 and has been under the leadership of Kyle Parmley since 2019. Gary Lloyd, a Trussville resident, is also a frequent contributing writer for the paper.

Cahaba Sun received the following awards:

Best Sports Coverage - 3rd Place

Best Human Interest Column - 1st Place for Southern Musings: Making Sense of the Muse

Best Sports News In-Depth Coverage - 3rd Place for Passing the baton

Best Sports Feature Story - 3rd Place for Glover twins making most of final chance to play together

Best News Photo - 2nd Place for Trussville Strong

Best Sports Photo - 2nd Place for Pinson Valleys wins class 6A state football title

This newspaper is part of Starnes Media. This year’s APA Better News Contest also favored the six other newspapers under the Starnes Media umbrella: Vestavia Voice, 280 LivingVillage Living, The Homewood Star, Hoover Sun and Iron City Ink.
