Friday night means gameday for the local high school football teams, and Under the Lights is back to cover Football Friday.
Hewitt-Trussville and Clay-Chalkville open the season Friday night on the road in non-region matchups.

Hewitt-Trussville at Auburn

- Time: 7 p.m.
- Location: Duck Samford Stadium
Last season: Hewitt-Trussville finished 8-3, falling in the first round of the playoffs to Opelika. Auburn finished 10-3, falling in the semifinals to the same Opelika team.
What to watch: Hewitt-Trussville enters the season in a unique position. The Huskies reached No. 1 in the Class 7A rankings last fall and return quarterback Jack Floyd, who will be the full-time starter this season. But questions remain in other position groups as the Huskies head into the year. Auburn enters off a semifinal run and will be a tough test right off the bat.
Last meeting: This will be the first meeting between the two programs.
Next week: Hewitt-Trussville plays its first home game of the year against Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa, while Auburn takes a road trip to Florida to play Choctawhatchee.
Clay-Chalkville at Creekside (Ga.)

- Time: 7 p.m.
- Location: Seminoles Stadium - Fairburn, Georgia
Last season: Clay-Chalkville finished a perfect 15-0, winning the Class 6A state championship, the program’s fifth title and third in the last five seasons. Creekside also went 15-0, winning the Class 4A title in Georgia.
What to watch: The defending state champions open a new season against out-of-state competition for the first time since 2018. Clay-Chalkville reclassifies to Class 5A, Region 6 for 2026 and will be chasing a repeat title.
Last meeting: Clay-Chalkville and Creekside have never met.
