Ashlyn Howard, a senior forward at Hewitt-Trussville High School, announced her commitment to the UAB women's basketball program Friday morning.
Howard played in the AHSAA North-South All-Star Game in July, in a game that features the top rising seniors in Alabama. She scored eight points, as her North team won by 41 points.
Last season, Howard averaged 7 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, as the Lady Huskies advanced to the Class 7A state championship game. Hewitt-Trussville finished with a 28-6 record in a strong season.
Howard will be joining a UAB program that is no stranger to the Hewitt-Trussville program. Hewitt graduate Jaxon Hunter is currently a graduate assistant with the program, and Trussville native Amiya Payne played for the Blazers in previous years.
