The Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce announces the third annual Community Caroling & Tree Lighting Event, set to take place Sunday, November 28, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m., on The Mall in the heart of Trussville’s historic Cahaba Project neighborhood. The presenting sponsor for the event is First Baptist Church Trussville.
“This is such a great way to kick off the Christmas holidays, as well as a time for making memories with family and friends,” said June Mathews, the chamber’s executive director. “And it’s exciting to watch this event grow. Last year’s attendance was noticeably bigger than it was the first year, and we expect even more people to join us for this year’s event.”
This joyful combination of musical entertainment, caroling, kids’ activities and pictures with Santa will culminate with Mayor Buddy Choat’s order to light the city’s Christmas tree at 5:45 p.m. As the tree is lit, 1,000 jingle bells will ring.
“We’re going to need a lot of help ringing that many bells,” said Mathews, “so we hope everybody will pick one up at the Silver Bell Booth and enjoy this unique opportunity to participate in the program.”
The event is the result of a community effort coordinated by the Trussville Chamber. Major contributors include the City of Trussville, First Baptist Church Trussville, The Trussville Tribune and Trussville Gas & Water. Other sponsors include the Will Bright Foundation, America’s First Federal Credit Union, Southland Golf Carts, EW Motion Therapy, Avadian Credit Union, Trussville To Go, Alabama Professional Services and Meals by Misty.
Booth space is made available to chamber members only, free-of-charge. But in lieu of a participation fee, each vendor is expected to provide a free kids’ activity. For details, call the chamber office.
The Trussville Historical Society’s Christmas Memory Bench at the foot of the Christmas tree will again serve as a photo op spot for family and friends throughout the holiday season.
