Beautification Board Chairwoman Laurie Nabors said 28 homes were nominated this year. Judging took more than six hours on a day in late May.
“There were tons of [homes and yards] that were just delightful,” Nabors said.
The homes and yards were judged by residents who are all master gardeners. The Beautification Board utilizes different judges each year.
“The whole benefit of having a board is to encourage people to keep their lawns beautiful and take pride in them, and then their neighbors recognize them,” Nabors said. “I think that’s a great thing.”
Nabors said that judging for next year’s Beautification Awards will take place during the first week of June. Board members include Nabors, Melodie Trimm, Nina Orr, Sue Peterson and Karen Black. The Beautification Board recommends public beautification projects, evaluates landscape treatments and selects winners for local commercial and residential Beautification Awards.
