Q: Introduce yourself and your business.
A: Hey guys, my name is Brittany Martin, and I am a co-owner here at Mockingbird Day Spa with Jill Henderson in Trussville, Ala. And, I just wanted to talk to you guys about some of the services that you can expect here. We offer organic facials, clinical facials, spray tans, waxings, custom massage and infrared sauna with red light therapy as well.
Q: What is one fun fact people might be surprised to know about you?
A: A fun fact about me would probably be that I was on a few reality TV shows, and also I used to be a bull rider.
Q: What do you love most about the people who walk through your doors?
A: I think what I love most about the people that walk through these doors is, first, their facial expression when they walk in. They're always really surprised by the vibe we've created and such a different experience that we have created.
And, the second thing, would probably be when they leave because everybody looks relaxed, refreshed.They look rejuvenated. Everybody talks about how they love how it smells and their experience; how great it was.
And, just how really warm and friendly the community has been to us and so welcoming to us, and every time we do get feedback from people, they're just so excited to have us here.
Q: What’s a moment or experience with a client that made you feel connected to Trussville?
A: Something that has made me feel really connected to the community is, really, just the response I've had from people, even clients laying on my table or when I'm out in the community or at other local businesses—shopping, eating—and they're like, "Hey, I had another client in here today talking to me about how great their experience was with you and how lovely everything was." So, just the actual feedback I'm getting from people and how throughout the community it's been circulated so well. So, that's something I'm really proud of.
But, just another experience, is really just being able to connect with the client on a very personal level and just really changing lives, touching lives. And there's a lot of people that come here for healing, especially through massage, as well.
Q: How has this community supported your business, and how do you give back?
A: Trussville has supported us tremendously just by showing up, and, not only just showing up, they continue to return and that makes me incredibly happy. We give back to the community by building business relationships with other local businesses. We team up with them a lot and create promotional events. And, we also give a lot of sponsorships to charities and the local schools as well.
Q: What keeps you motivated and excited to keep doing what you do every day?
A: One thing that keeps me determined and motivated, I would say, is just spreading the education that I do have to my clients—making clients feel more comfortable in their own skin, healing bodies with massage. We do a lot of therapeutic work, and we're changing lives too. You're not just a client and we want you to feel like this is a safe haven because it is for all people.
And, I like to educate my staff. We're always continuing education and we're always answering questions. We're always training. I really try to be a mentor to my staff. I'm working with them every single day taking clients as well. I want them to really feel like a team because we are a team.
And, I'm just really excited to also just bring really good luxurious services just here locally, and you can have a luxurious experience without having to drive far now.
Q: Anything else you would like the community to know?
A: Something else I would like the community to know is that we now have our own medical director. Go us! So, we have teamed up with Dr. Stephen Higgins from Timeless Med, and now we will be offering Botox, Jeuveau, Dysport; all the neurotoxins and the filler are now local.
