Q: For those who haven’t visited yet, how would you describe Eyes on Main?
A: Family oriented. We’re here to be part of the community. We started in the Grayson Valley area back in 1991 but really wanted to be part of a true community environment. Creating a family atmosphere — for both patients and staff — is our biggest goal.
Q: What services do you offer besides glasses and contacts?
A: We provide extensive medical eye care, including dry eye treatment, glaucoma care, and cataract pre- and post-op services with a trusted surgeon.
Q: What sets Eyes on Main apart from other optometry practices?
A: The care we give. We take time with each patient and look beyond, “Which is better — one or two?” Our goal is always to find and solve that problem.
Q: What do you enjoy most about serving the Trussville community?
A: Making patients happy. Whether it’s improving vision or solving a long-standing problem no one else has been able to fix, helping people is incredibly rewarding. I’ve lived in Trussville more than 30 years — coaching baseball, serving through church ministries — and now I’m seeing former players bring their kids in. That’s humbling and gratifying.
Q: What’s a trend you’re seeing in eye health that people should know about?
A: A major increase in nearsightedness in kids, mostly due to screen time — Chromebooks, phones, close-up work. Less blinking leads to poor gland function, which causes dry eye. The exciting part is that we now have technology, including new lenses designed to slow myopia progression, that helps us treat both issues more effectively.
