The Palace Chinese Restaurant reopened May 15 at 5978 Chalkville Mountain Road, next to El Patron and near Ollie’s and 7 Brew. The family-owned restaurant originally opened July 7, 2000, and operated for 25 years in Trussville before closing in spring 2025. It was one of the last original tenants at Trussville Crossings. The family announced the return of the restaurant at the new location earlier this year. 205-661-1668.

Raising Cane's
Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers has received concept plan approval from the Trussville Design Review Committee for 1672 Gadsden Highway, the former Pet Supplies Plus location. The restaurant will be the chain's fourth Alabama location. A construction timeline has not been announced. The company is based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and is known for its marinated chicken fingers, crinkle fries and Texas toast. Nearly 1,000 stores operate globally. raisingcanes.com.

Hero Diner and Rodney Scott’s Whole Hog BBQ — neighbors at 314 and 312 Main St. in the Trussville Entertainment District — both closed in mid-April as part of the Pihakis Restaurant Group’s broader financial collapse. The group faces an approximately $400,000 lawsuit from food supplier Evans Meats and more than $12 million in liens filed by landlord Michael Mouron.
