Best Use of Color winner Gordon Garrett’s home.
The Trussville Beautification Board held its annual contest May 25. It had 16 entries, and all yards were impressive. The contestants, who had to be Trussville residents, competed in the categories of Best Professionally Maintained, Best Business, Best Use of Color, Best Turf, Best Homeowner Maintained and Best Landscape Design.
The winners will receive their awards at this year’s annual Freedom Fest on July 4, at 6 p.m.
The winners for 2017 are:
► Best Business: Carroll Pharmacy
► Best Professionally Maintained: Stuart and Barret Trowbridge
► Best Use of Color: Gordon Garrett, 3447 Cedarbrook Circle
► Best Turf: Regina Freeman, 318 Woodward Road
► Best Homeowner Maintained: Don and Jan Evans, 405 Nichols Way
► Best Landscape Design: Keith and Charlotte Gibson, 227 Wimberly Drive
This year’s judges were Rick Cybulsky and Hope Cooper, both of whom are master gardeners. Attending the judging were board members Nora O’Connor and Nina Orr. The board would also like to thank Stacey Frazier, the driver for the day, and Mayor Buddy Choat for supporting the board.
Also, the board added two new members this year: James Henry and Laurie Nabors. Dropping off the board were Charlotte Gibson and Charleen Temples.
